The museum displays the comprehensive planning, pegging and the diffcult construction work on this section of The Norwegian State Railways across the mountains between Oslo and Bergen. The work started in 1871, and the railway line was opened in 1909. "The struggle against the snow" is visualized in an own exhibition. There is also a cafe at the place. Visitors may see an original workmen's shed from the year 1900 - and the female cook is also present!
