Evacuation Cave in Løkengdalen

When the order of forced evacuation of the population of Finnmark came in October 1944, the evacuation cave in Løkengdalen was built up in the course of a few days. Ten people lived here for short or long periods until the end of the war. The cave that is here today is a reconstruction. The walk to the cave takes about one hour on a trail that is easy to follow although it is in hilly country. The shortest trail starts at Ytterbukt, but there is also a marked trail from Lerresfjord School.
