Havrå Farmstead

Share

The farmstead at Havrå consists of 36 buildings crowded closely together surrounded by fields that are divided into small plots. In the 20th century there were 60 people living here. All the work had to be done with raw muscle power and hand tools. As a result, the landscape around the Havrå Farmsteads is unusual. Several of the stave-built barns have exterior walls that are lined with juniper branches, which was a special building technique found on the west coast. We keep cows and sheep and grow potatoes, corn and grass.
