Røros Museum - Smelting Cabin


The Røros Museum is devoted to the history of the 333 years of mining operations in Røros. Up to 1953 copper ore was smelted here. In the modern museum of today everybody is fascinated by the old mining techniques that can be studied through models of the machines and equipment used in the mining process. The smelting cabin also displays the museum's permanent and special exhibitions, including an exhibition of clothes featuring outfits worn at church and in daily life, as well as christening gowns. Various art exhibitions are also presented.
