Svanøy Manor


Svanøy Manor is an old official and aristocratic residence. Over 340 smallholdings were administered from this central farm in the early 18th century. Preacher Hans Nielsen Hauge purchased the farm in 1804, whereupon it became a centre for the Haugian pietistic movement. The farmstead, which was listed in 1924, has an elegant four-winged manor house that is surrounded by an old garden with graceful trees. Overnight stays and meals. Guided tours.Today fish farming is a major industry on Svanøy, and visitors can buy first-rate smoked salmon.
