Vingen helleristningsfelt - Rock carvings at Vingen

Share

The Vingen area has one of the largest collections of rock carvings in Norway, with about 2 000 figures. It was discovered quite casually by Mr. Kristian Bing in 1910, after a report given by his mountain guide Abraham Honnskår. Bing published his finds in 1912, and then the archaeologists were ready to make their examinations on the spot. There are no roads leading to Vingen, and there is no opportunity to go there without an authorized guide. Vingen is a Nature Reserve Area.
