Old Stordal Church, "Rosekyrkja"

Old Stordal Church, from 1789, looks like an ordinary octagonal church from the outside, but the interior is so richly decorated that it is called "the Rose Church". The walls and ceiling are covered with painted vines, coiling foliage, roses and depictions of Bible stories. The church became the property of the Society for the Preservation of Norwegian Ancient Monuments in 1908.
