The Norwegian author Arne Garborg built this house at Knudaheio as a summer residence in 1899. He lived here for a few weeks every summer, mostly alone, in order to be able to work undisturbed. Descriptions of the surroundings here can be found in several of his books. Arne Garborg was very fond of Knudaheio, and both he and his wife Hulda are buried here.
