ORKLA Industrial Museum

ORKLA Industrial Museum consists of an information centre with exhibitions on railroads and the mining industry, Gammelgruva (the old mine) and the electric railway,Thamshavnbanen. Mining operations to extract pyrite at Løkken began in 1654. Large "halls" created through many years of removing ore by hand are now used for concerts. Early in the 1900s, Chr. Thams founded Orkla Grube-Aktiebolag and began one of the great industrial projects in Norway with production facilities, power generators, offices and homes, and an electric railway.
