Herøy Coastal Museum

Herøy has played a major role in the region for over 1000 years. There was a church here from 1100 until 1916, a legal court with a banqueting hall, and a trade centre from the 1700s until 1916. Today the museum holds exhibitions showing the old trade centre as it was in the 1800s. There are several renovated buildings with intact interiors, boats and fishing gear. The museum also holds a reconstruction of the 7th century Kvalsund boat, and a copy of a 200-year-old boat from Sunnmøre. There are ruins of two churches with a cemetery on the grounds.
