Sunnmøre Museum and Borgundkaupangen

Sunnmøre Museum is a folk museum for coastal culture that consists of 50 old buildings and a boat collection with around 35 fishing boats. Among the boats moored at the pier are the Borgundknarren, which is a copy of a trade vessel from around 1000, and the Heland, which was one of the "Shetland boats" used by the underground resistance movement during World War II. In the Medieval Museum there are objects from the many excavations carried out in Borgundkaupangen, the old city that disappeared as a result of the Black Death ca 1350.
