Stone-age engravings at Bølareinen

Share

Bølareinen is probably Norway's most famous stone-age engraving site. Stone-age man sat at the Bølafossen Falls with club and stone, chipping out a life-sized reindeer depiction. Was it for luck in hunting? There are engravings of bears, moose and birds. Rather unusual is the 5-foot-high skier with stave in hand. The rock with this image emerged from the sea about 6000 years ago, and the engravings could theoretically date from then. The area is well laid out, with Bølabua, paths, picnic sites and information boards. Oversettelse © www.noproblem.no 2009.
