National Museum of Decorative Arts

The historical collections display furniture, silver, glass and handicrafts from the 1500s until the present. Classical objects from all over Europe and handicrafts from the 1900s are highlighted. Special collections are devoted to the works of three women artists: Hanna Ryggen and Synnøve Anker Aurdal, who wove tapestries, and Benny Motzfeldt, a glass artist. A very special Japanese department opened in 2002. The museum also comprises temporary exhibitions on different themes.
