Bomsholmen Floating Museum

Bomsholmen Floating Museum is located in the Nidelva River at the lower end of the Arendal watercourse, at Røed in Øyestad. Timber floating was an important industry in the Arendal watercourse from the 17th century. Timbers that were floated down the Nidelva River were stopped by the beam to be sorted before being send onwards. The Bomsholmen Museum consists of several preserved buildings. Parts of the beam have been preserved. The museum has a pleasant outside area with a good quayside and excellent place for swimming.
