Brufoss Falls Hydro-electric Station

In 1914, a partnership was formed in Mosengen for the planning of a new power station. The plant was ready and taken into use by Christmas 1916. At its height the plant produced 30 000 kwh a year. Not much, but enough to provide lighting and electricity for the village. Electricity was charged for at 2 kroner 50 øre per light connection per year. Bulbs were not to be greater than 25W. When the North Østerdal Power Company was coupled up to the grid in 1955-56, the turbines in the Brofossen Falls continued to provide electricity for the sawmill just across the river until the early 1970s.
